Unlike all other “Vegan” mattresses, including those made with foam or latex, our Vegan Choice bed mattress contains no chemicals whatsoever. Surprisingly, there is up to 4 kilos of fire retardant chemicals in a foam double bed mattress, which can escape into your bedroom causing health and environmental problems.

Following increasing requests for a chemical free Vegan mattress, we are proud to introduce our Vegan Choice bed mattress. It gives you and your family the peace of mind of buying a mattress which is totally free from animal products and cruelty free but also, importantly, it is chemical free. We use no harmful fire retardant chemicals, no PBDEs or dangerous residues that can be inhaled or absorbed. Our non toxic, healthy bed mattress uses both natural materials (cotton) and safe, low carbon polyester for maximum breathability, comfort and support.

The super hi-venting polyester Purity cover allows maximum air flow to help keep the mattress extra dry, reduce moisture and the build up of bacterial and fungal spores.

All our vegan mattresses are completely safe and tested by a UKAS certified independent testing house to conform to UK fire regulations.

In the centre of the mattress, our Vegan Choice bed mattress has an extra thick layer cotton rich felt on top of a luxury "Active Support Technology®" pocket sprung unit (1000 springs) giving you total support and comfort.

Each of our Vegan Choice bed mattresses are handmade to order and side stitched together with flax thread – we use no glues, solvents or adhesives in the construction.

Why use polyester? Polyester sometimes has a bad press because it is a man-made fibre - but polyester is incredibly strong and gives great longevity! Furthermore it has a carbon footprint of about 3.8 Kg CO2e/Kg. This is about 40% less than that of cotton. So it has a lower environmental impact and is great for the circular economy.

Polyester can also be used in organic mattresses under the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) regulations due to its very low off-gassing properties.

It has the ability to be closed loop; that means it can be recovered at end of life and re-vitalised into new fabric with the same performance as the original. If are looking for a breathable fibre that evaporates moisture quickly, then polyester is ideal. That is why polyester is used for outdoor sports clothing where the ability to dry is vital.
